Hoërskool Middelburg has made history at the Belgotex Sport Easter Hockey Festival by securing a spot in the Cup final after a convincing 3-0 victory over Rustenburg Girls’ High School in the semi-finals. The Mpumalanga school will now face Somerset College in the title-decider on Saturday at 17:20 on the Hartleyvale A Astroturf.
Middies, considered one of the dark horse teams entering the tournament, proved their worth by dominating their opponents from the start. They kicked off the competition with two impressive wins on the opening day, followed by emphatic victories on day two to secure first place in their group.
Their journey to the final was not without challenges, as they were held to a goalless draw in the quarterfinals against Woodridge College, but managed to advance after winning a penalty shootout. In the semi-finals, they faced a tough test against Rustenburg but rose to the occasion with a 3-0 win.

The final day promises more thrilling action, with Hermanus facing Belville High in the Super Bowl final and an Eastern Cape derby between Kingswood College and Stirling High in the Shield final.
