Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team Squad Announced for Europe Tour, Rohit Named Captain
Indian junior men’s hockey team is all set to embark on a tour of Europe from May 20-29, with defender Rohit leading the squad as captain and Shardanand Tiwari as his deputy. The 20-member squad will play five matches across three nations — Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The tour is part of Hockey India’s initiative to provide the team with exposure and experience, helping them enhance their gameplay. Captain Rohit expressed his excitement about the upcoming matches, stating, “It will be wonderful to play together against teams from other nations to help us build on our game and get better through this kind of exposure.”
The team’s first match is scheduled against Belgium in Antwerp on May 20, followed by another match against the same opponents in Breda, Netherlands on May 22. They will also face the Netherlands’ Club team Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push and Germany during the tour.
Vice-captain Shardanand Tiwari emphasized the significance of the tour in evaluating the team’s strengths and areas for improvement. He said, “This will be a wonderful experience and will go a long way in evaluating where we stand as a team and as individual players.”
The squad comprises goalkeepers Prince Deep Singh and Bikramjit Singh, defenders Shardanand Tiwari, Yogember Rawat, Anmol Ekka, Rohit, Manoj Yadav, and Talem Priyo Barta, midfielders Ankit Pal, Roshan Kujur, Bipin Billavara Ravi, Mukesh Toppo, Manmeet Singh, and Vachan H A, and forwards Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Arshdeep Singh, Gurjot Singh, Mohd. Konain Dad, Dilraj Singh, and Gursewak Singh.
The tour is expected to provide valuable experience to the young players and help them further develop their skills on the international stage.
