Rand Park High School’s First-Team Hockey Boys Shine at NWU Hockey Clinic
Rand Park High School’s first-team hockey boys had an action-packed weekend at the North-West University (NWU) Hockey Clinic, held at the NWU Potchefstroom campus. The intensive training sessions proved to be a valuable experience for the 16 boys from Rand Park, as they geared up for the upcoming season.
Guided by experienced coaches and mentors, the players had the chance to hone their skills and showcase their talents against other schools participating in the 2024 senior camp. The team’s performance was further enhanced by their new uniform sponsorship, courtesy of Graeme Hamilton-Reid of Chas Everitt Randpark Ridge, which added a touch of style to their game.
Throughout the weekend, Rand Park High School’s hockey team played a total of seven matches, emerging victorious in six of them. They faced tough opponents such as Hoërskool Wesvalia, EG Jansen, Potchefstroom Gimnasium, and more, displaying their resilience and determination on the field. Their only draw came against HTS Witbank, highlighting their competitive spirit and teamwork.
First team captain Siba Ntlangeni shared his thoughts on the clinic, expressing pride in his team’s growth and performance. “The tour to Potch was amazing. The team learned a lot and grew more because of all the coaching that was provided at the clinic, and I am proud of my team,” said Ntlangeni.
