Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to Focus on Development and Revival of Hockey in Pakistan
The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) is set to prioritize the development and revival of national sport hockey in Pakistan, according to Olympian Khawaja Junaid. In a meeting with PMYP Chairman Rana Mashood Ahmed, plans were discussed to raise the standard of the game at different levels and engage the youth through sports initiatives.
“I am delighted to share that under the PM’s directions, development and revival of hockey has been kept as the top priority,” said Khawaja Junaid. The focus is on reviving hockey in Pakistan and engaging the youth through sports activities. The government is committed to revitalizing hockey and showcasing Pakistan’s talent on the international stage, especially at the upcoming South Asian Games.
Talented individuals identified through the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Programme will have the opportunity to participate in the National Games later this year. These athletes will undergo rigorous training to represent Pakistan with excellence.
The PMYP chairman emphasized the importance of sports in engaging the youth positively, fostering unity, discipline, and national pride. The government is fully supportive of initiatives aimed at harnessing Pakistan’s sporting talent and promoting a culture of athleticism and camaraderie.
