Mohammad Yousuf, Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation, Passes Away at 61
The sports community in Bangladesh is mourning the loss of Mohammad Yousuf, a veteran sports organizer and vice-president of the incumbent executive committee of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF). Yousuf, who also served as the acting general secretary of the previous committee, passed away at the Evercare Hospital in Chattogram on Saturday.
The news of Yousuf’s demise was confirmed by Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir, the general secretary of the Chittagong Divisional Sports Association. The 61-year-old leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and a host of well-wishers who are deeply saddened by his passing.
Yousuf had a long and illustrious career in sports administration, having been associated with the Chittagong District Sports Association and the Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club. He was a key figure in the development of hockey in Bangladesh, serving as a joint secretary and acting secretary of the BHF.
The sports community, including the Bangladesh Olympic Association and various sports federations, has expressed their deep condolences at the loss of Yousuf. Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan Papon also conveyed his shock and sorrow at the news, praising Yousuf’s significant contributions to the development of hockey in the country.
