Sibling Rivalry on the Ice: McKade Webster Looks to Match Sister’s NCAA Hockey Titles
Denver Pioneers hockey player McKade Webster is gearing up for a chance to tie the score with his sister Makenna in NCAA national titles this weekend at the Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Webster siblings come from a hockey-loving family, where the sport runs deep and winning on the ice is a tradition.
McKade, a senior captain for Denver, will face Boston University in a semifinal game on Thursday, with the winner advancing to the title game on Saturday. With about 30 family members and friends in attendance to support McKade, the Webster family will be well-represented at the Xcel Energy Center.
Growing up in St. Louis, McKade and Makenna always had a house where other kids wanted to hang out, with a yard featuring various sports courts and a synthetic hockey rink in the basement. McKade caught the hockey bug from his cousin, while Makenna transitioned from figure skating to hockey after watching her brother play.
Their parents, Dave and Sunny, have been hugely supportive and have split the travel duties to attend all of their children’s games. The Webster family’s dedication to hockey has paid off, with both McKade and Makenna excelling in the sport at the collegiate level.
McKade, a recent graduate, is savoring every moment of his final season with the Pioneers before transitioning into the world of business. With the opportunity to win a second national title with Denver, McKade is focused on making history as the first men’s college hockey program to win 10 national titles.
As McKade prepares to take the ice at the Frozen Four, Makenna will be in the stands wearing his Denver jersey for good luck. The sibling rivalry for NCAA national titles continues to drive both McKade and Makenna to strive for success on the ice, making the Webster family a force to be reckoned with in the world of collegiate hockey.
