Young midfielder Marina Lalramnghaki makes it to Indian women’s hockey team core group

Marina Lalramnghaki, the rising star of Indian women’s hockey, has recently earned a spot in the 33-member core group of the national team. Her exceptional skills and unwavering determination have set her apart, securing her position among the country’s top hockey players.

The 22-year-old midfielder from Mizoram showcased her talent during the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship in Pune, where she scored three goals, highlighting her agility and strategic play on the field. Marina’s journey in hockey has been marked by her participation in prestigious tournaments like the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2021 and the U-21 3 Nations Invitational Tournament in Australia in 2019.

Reflecting on her selection, Marina expressed her joy and gratitude, stating, “It was a dream come true moment for me. I always had confidence in my abilities, and the successful trials reaffirmed my belief.” With her eyes set on upcoming tournaments, Marina is determined to secure a spot in the 18-member Indian squad for future challenges.

Marina credits her inspiration to Lalremsiami and idolizes Indian team midfielder Sushila Chanu. Drawing motivation from their success stories, Marina is committed to making her mark in Indian hockey and contributing to the team’s success in the 2026 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Her journey in hockey began at the age of 10, and since then, Marina has shown immense dedication and perseverance towards her sport. With a strong belief in turning dreams into reality through hard work, Marina is determined to carve out a successful career in Indian women’s hockey.
