Marina Lalramnghaki: Rising Star of Indian Women’s Hockey

Marina Lalramnghaki, the young and talented midfielder from Mizoram, has recently made headlines for her selection in the 33-member Indian women’s hockey team core group. The 22-year-old’s journey in hockey has been nothing short of remarkable, with her outstanding performance during the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship in Pune catching the eye of selectors.

Her selection in the core group came after intense trials conducted on April 6 and 7, 2024, where Marina’s skill and determination shone through, securing her a spot among the nation’s top hockey players. Reflecting on her selection, Marina expressed her joy and gratitude, stating that it was a dream come true moment for her.

With her sights set on upcoming tournaments, Marina is determined to earn a place in the 18-member Indian squad for future challenges. Her ultimate goal is to contribute to the success of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in the 2026 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, she remains focused on making it to the national squad and is committed to giving her best to make her country proud.

Marina’s journey in hockey began at the age of 10, and she credits her inspiration to Lalremsiami and idolizes Indian team midfielder Sushila Chanu. Drawing inspiration from Lalremsiami’s journey from Mizoram, Marina is determined to follow in her footsteps and make a mark in Indian hockey. She also looks up to Sushila Chanu as a role model, aspiring to emulate her success on the field and contribute to the legacy of Indian hockey.

With her talent, determination, and unwavering commitment to the sport, Marina Lalramnghaki is set to make a significant impact on Indian women’s hockey and continue to inspire young players across the country. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work in turning dreams into reality.
