Exciting Results from the Fifth Round of the Ehlanzeni Senior Hockey League
The Ehlanzeni Senior Hockey League saw some intense action at Penryn on Sunday April 28, with Lowveld Country Club (LVCC) emerging as the standout team of the day. Hosting the fifth round of the league, LVCC managed to secure victories in three out of their four matches, showcasing their dominance on the field.
With a total of six matches scheduled for the day, spectators were treated to some thrilling hockey as twenty-five goals were scored in total, averaging just over four goals per game. The competition was fierce as clubs battled it out for the lead in the four divisions of the league.
One of the biggest upsets of the day came in the Ladies Second League, where LVCC 2 secured their first win of the season by defeating the log leaders, Impala 2, with a score of 2-1. In the Men’s Second League, White River 2 claimed the top spot on the log by beating White River Macs 6-1.
In the Ladies First League, LVCC managed to overtake Impala for the first place with a 4-2 victory. However, in the Men’s First League, LVCC fell short of claiming the top spot as they could only manage a 3-1 win against Impala, drawing level on points with White River.
The Ehlanzeni Senior Hockey League will take a break this weekend as local players participate in the SA Masters Interprovincial Tournament. The league will resume with the sixth round on Sunday May 12, promising more exciting matches and fierce competition on the field.
