Cleveland Monsters Goaltender Jet Greaves Named Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week
Cleveland Monsters goaltender Jet Greaves has been on fire, and his outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed. The American Hockey League announced today that Greaves has been named the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending April 21, 2024.
Greaves showcased his skills in three road games over the weekend, where he made an incredible 97 saves out of 103 shots. His stellar performance helped the Monsters clinch their first division title in franchise history.
In Friday night’s game against the Rochester Americans, Greaves made 28 saves, including 14 crucial stops in the third period and overtime, securing a 3-2 victory for Cleveland. The following day, he carried a shutout into the third period and finished with 39 saves in a 4-3 win against the Toronto Marlies. Finally, on Sunday, Greaves turned away 30 of 31 shots to seal a 3-1 win over the Marlies and secure first place in the North Division.
With Sunday’s victory, Greaves also became the franchise’s all-time leader in wins with 61 victories as a member of the Monsters. The 23-year-old goaltender from Cambridge, Ont., has had an impressive season, finishing with a record of 30-12-4, a 2.93 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage in 46 appearances.
Greaves’ remarkable performance has not gone unnoticed, as he continues to make a name for himself in the AHL. With his recent accolade as Player of the Week, Greaves has proven himself to be a key player for the Monsters and a rising star in the league.
