India suffers fourth consecutive defeat to Australia in hockey test series

The Indian men’s hockey team faced a tough defeat in their fourth consecutive match against Australia in the five-match test series, with a final score of 1-3 in favor of the hosts. Despite a strong start from India, with Captain Harmanpreet Singh scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute, Australia quickly bounced back with goals from Jeremy Hayward in the 19th and 47th minutes, followed by Jack Welch finding the net in the 54th minute.

The match started with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess, with Mandeep Singh’s early shot being saved by Australia’s goalkeeper. India managed to take the lead with Harmanpreet Singh’s goal, but Australia equalized soon after with Hayward’s first goal. The first half ended with a 1-1 scoreline, setting the stage for an intense second half.

Despite India’s efforts to regain the lead in the third quarter, Australia’s strong defense and quick passes kept them at bay. Hayward’s second goal in the 47th minute gave Australia the lead, which was further extended by Welch’s goal in the 54th minute. India fought hard in the final quarter, earning multiple penalty corners, but they were unable to convert any of them, leading to a 3-1 victory for Australia.

The Indian team will now look to regroup and bounce back in the final match of the series, aiming to end on a high note after a tough series of defeats. Australia, on the other hand, will be looking to maintain their winning streak and secure a clean sweep against India.
