Indian Women’s Hockey Team Core Probables Selected for FIH Pro League Squad
The Indian women’s hockey team is gearing up for the upcoming FIH Hockey Pro League fixtures with a strong core group of 33 players selected by Hockey India after a rigorous selection process. Seasoned players like goalkeeper Savita Punia and forward Vandana Katariya have made the cut, along with some new faces who have impressed the selectors.
The team will be training in Bengaluru till May 16 before traveling to Antwerp and London to face tough opponents like Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain in the FIH Pro League starting May 22. The selection trials held after the recent National Championship helped in finalizing the squad, with High Performance Director Herman Kruis expressing confidence in the potential of the new core group.
The revamped national camp comes after the team’s disappointment of failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics, following their historic fourth-place finish in the Tokyo Olympics. The addition of young talents like Marina Lalramnghaki and Manisha Chauhan, along with the return of players like Preeti Dubey, showcases the depth and talent in the Indian women’s hockey setup.
The 33-member core group includes a mix of experienced players and promising youngsters across all positions, highlighting the team’s depth and versatility. With a renewed focus and determination, the Indian women’s hockey team is all set to make a mark in the upcoming FIH Pro League fixtures and beyond.
