Hockey Haryana and Hockey Madhya Pradesh emerge victorious on Day 5 of National Women’s Hockey League 2024
In an action-packed day at the National Women’s Hockey League 2024 (Phase 1) in Ranchi, Hockey Haryana and Hockey Madhya Pradesh emerged victorious in their respective matches on Day 5 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium.
In the first match of the day, Hockey Haryana showcased their dominance as they defeated Hockey Bengal 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Despite an early lead by Hockey Bengal, Hockey Haryana fought back with goals from Neelam, Nandni, Shashi Khasa, and Pinki to secure their third consecutive victory in the league.
In the second game of the day, Hockey Madhya Pradesh overcame Hockey Maharashtra with a 2-1 win. After a goalless first half, Aanchal Sahu and Swati scored crucial goals for Hockey Madhya Pradesh, while Ashwini Kolekar found the back of the net for Hockey Maharashtra.
The day also saw the Hockey Association of Odisha defeating Manipur Hockey 2-1, and Hockey Jharkhand securing a 1-0 victory over Hockey Madhya Pradesh in their respective matches.
As the league progresses, the competition is heating up with teams giving their all on the field. Later in the day, Hockey Mizoram will face off against Manipur Hockey, while Hockey Jharkhand will battle it out with the Hockey Association of Odisha.
