Mooroopna Women Holding Their Own in Victorian State League 2

Mooroopna’s women’s hockey team is facing the toughest challenge in the Goulburn Valley, but they are holding their own in the Victorian State League 2 division. After two successful road trips in the past fortnight, the team secured a 2-0 win against Gippsland Strikers and a 1-1 draw against Melton.

With a record of one win, one draw, and one loss after three rounds, Mooroopna’s women have shown resilience and determination. Coach Hannah Vibert is pleased with the team’s performance, especially considering the long drives to Melbourne for games.

The upcoming match against Werribee at home will be a tough test for Mooroopna, but Vibert is confident in her team’s abilities. Despite the disparity in scores seen in the league, Mooroopna is aiming for a top-four finish and believes they can compete with the stronger teams in the division.

On the men’s side, Shepparton’s top teams competed in the Regional Hockey League against Bendigo’s best. While Strikers suffered a surprising defeat, SYC and Eaglehawk had impressive wins, showcasing the competitiveness of the league.

As the season progresses, Mooroopna’s women’s team will continue to focus on improving their goal-scoring abilities while maintaining a strong defense. With determination and teamwork, they aim to climb the ranks and make a mark in the State League 2 division. The upcoming match against Werribee will be a true test of their skills, but the team is ready to rise to the challenge.
