Former Indian Women’s Hockey Team Goalkeeper Yogita Bali Supports Hockey India’s Initiatives for National Women’s Hockey League

Former Indian women’s hockey team goalkeeper Yogita Bali has thrown her support behind Hockey India’s efforts to elevate the sport at all levels, particularly with the introduction of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). The inaugural edition of the NWHL is set to kick off in Ranchi, Jharkhand from April 30 to May 9, showcasing the top talent from the 14th Senior Women National Championship 2024.

Yogita Bali, a veteran in the sport, lauded the significance of the NWHL, highlighting its role in providing a platform for players to display their skills and gain valuable experience in high-pressure situations. She emphasized the league’s importance as a stepping stone for aspiring players looking to make their mark in the Hockey India League (HIL).

In addition to the NWHL, Hockey India’s commitment to nurturing talent is evident through its grassroots development program, which includes specialized camps for young goalkeepers and drag-flickers across the country. Bali praised the initiative, noting the opportunity it provides for young athletes to learn from experienced former players and enhance their skills.

Looking ahead to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Yogita expressed confidence in the Indian men’s hockey team despite their recent series loss against Australia. She believes that the setback serves as a valuable learning experience for the team, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and refine their strategies for the upcoming Olympics.

In conclusion, Yogita Bali’s support for Hockey India’s initiatives and her optimism for the future of Indian hockey reflect the growing momentum and development of the sport in the country. With the NWHL set to make its debut and the Paris Olympics on the horizon, the future looks bright for Indian hockey.
