The National Women’s Hockey League 2024-2025 kicked off in style on the opening day at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The action-packed day saw two exciting matches with Hockey Association of Odisha and Hockey Maharashtra emerging victorious in their respective encounters.
In the first match, Hockey Association of Odisha outclassed Hockey Haryana with a convincing 4-1 win. Despite an early goal from Haryana, Odisha bounced back strongly in the second half with goals from Rambha Kujur, Sonali Ekka, and Captain Dipi Monika Toppo to secure a comfortable victory.
The second match of the day saw Hockey Maharashtra ease past Manipur Hockey with a dominant 5-1 win. Maharashtra took control early on and never looked back, with Sanika Chandrakant Mane leading the charge with a brace of goals.
