Pittsburgh Penguins Rookie Valtteri Puustinen Added to Finland’s A National Team Roster for EHT Tournament in Czechia

Pittsburgh Penguins rookie forward Valtteri Puustinen has received a prestigious call-up to represent Finland in the upcoming Euro Hockey Tour (EHT) tournament in Czechia in May. The Finnish Ice Hockey Association announced Puustinen’s inclusion as an injury replacement for Lauri Pajuniemi, who is currently sidelined.

The EHT tournament, featuring teams from Czechia, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland, serves as a crucial warm-up event leading into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship tournament, also taking place in Czechia in May. Players participating in the EHT tournament have the opportunity to earn a spot on their country’s roster for the prestigious IIHF World Championship.

Puustinen, who has made a significant impact in his rookie NHL season with the Penguins, will bring his skill and experience to the Finnish national team. The 24-year-old forward has showcased his talent in 52 NHL games, recording 20 points and demonstrating his versatility on the ice.

Having previously represented Finland on the international stage, Puustinen will join fellow Penguins forward Jesse Puljujarvi on the national team roster for the EHT tournament. Additionally, Penguins players Radim Zohorna, Erik Karlsson, and Marcus Pettersson have also been selected to represent their respective countries in the upcoming IIHF World Championship.

Penguins assistant coach Ty Hennes will also be involved in the IIHF World Championship as part of the United States’ coaching staff, further highlighting the team’s strong presence on the international stage.

As Puustinen prepares to showcase his skills on the global stage, Penguins fans can follow his journey and support the team throughout the season. Stay tuned for more updates on the Penguins and their players as they compete on the international hockey scene.
