The High School for Girls Potchefstroom to Host Annual All Girls Festival

The High School for Girls Potchefstroom is gearing up to host the highly anticipated annual All Girls Festival, set to take place from Thursday, 2 May, to Saturday, 4 May. This prestigious event, which first took place in 2000, brings together top government schools from across South Africa to compete in a range of sports and cultural activities, emphasizing camaraderie among participants.

A total of 23 schools will be participating in this year’s festival, with the hockey competition attracting 19 schools. Defending champions C & N Sekondêre Meisieskool Oranje are the team to beat in Pool A, while Rhenish Girls’ High School is expected to dominate in Pool B. Eunice High School, last year’s hosts, are the favorites in Pool C, while Pool D remains unpredictable with schools like Paarl Girls’ High and Clarendon High School for Girls in contention.

Samantha Boswell, overseeing the hockey tournament, expressed her excitement for the event, highlighting the opportunity for girls to showcase their talent, enjoy the challenges posed by opponents, and foster good sportsmanship.

The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony on Wednesday evening at Snowflake, Potchefstroom, followed by the start of sporting events on Thursday morning. The festivities will culminate with the final on Saturday, accompanied by a closing ceremony.

With a diverse range of sports and cultural activities on offer, the All Girls Festival promises to be a thrilling and unifying experience for participants and spectators alike. Don’t miss the action, catch it live on SuperSport Schools.
