PR Sreejesh’s Heroic Performance Not Enough as Australia Prevails 2-1 in Perth
Despite PR Sreejesh’s heroic efforts in front of the goal, India fell short against Australia in the third game of the five-match series in Perth on Wednesday. The two-time FIH Goalkeeper of the Year put up a superlative performance, making save after save to keep the Aussies at bay.
From the very beginning, Australia kept winning penalty corners but Sreejesh was in no mood to let them score easily. He made some incredible saves, with each one seemingly better than the last. His performance was reminiscent of a superhero, stopping everything that came his way.
Sreejesh was well-supported by his defenders, who were solid throughout the game, and fellow goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak, who also made some crucial saves. Despite their best efforts, Australia managed to break through in the 44th minute with a penalty stroke converted by Jeremy Hayward.
However, Sreejesh continued to stand tall and deny the Aussies any further goals. He was named the Player-of-the-Match for his outstanding performance. Even as Australia grabbed the lead, India fought hard to find an equalizer but fell short in the end.
With Australia taking a 3-0 lead in the series, India will have to regroup and come back stronger in the remaining matches. Sreejesh’s exceptional display in the game will surely be a source of inspiration for the team as they look to bounce back in the next game.
