Buoniconti Fund 39th Great Sports Legends Dinner: A Night of Noble Grandeur in New York

The countdown to the Paris Games is on, but before the world turns its attention to the French capital, another significant event is set to take place in New York. The Buoniconti Fund 39th Great Sports Legends Dinner is scheduled for September 30, bringing together a star-studded lineup of Hall of Famers, gold medalists, and international champions to support the Miami Project.

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Barth A. Green and Pro Football Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, the Miami Project is dedicated to advanced research and treatment for spinal cord injuries. The annual Sports Legends Dinner serves as a premier fundraiser for the foundation, raising over $130 million in its 38-year history.

This year’s event, to be held at The New York Hilton Midtown Hotel, will feature a silent auction and cocktail party before dinner, all in support of paralysis research. The Miami Project’s commitment to finding treatments for spinal cord injuries is evident in its ongoing clinical studies and trials, with a team of over 2,000 scientists, researchers, clinicians, and support staff at the Leonard M. Miller Center at the University of Miami.

Past honorees at the Great Sports Legends Dinner include iconic athletes like Michael Jordan and Simone Biles, whose support has helped raise awareness and funds for the cause. With luminaries like Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretzky, and Lindsey Vonn also lending their support over the years, the event continues to shine a spotlight on the importance of finding a cure for paralysis.

As the sports world gears up for this prestigious event, the legacy of the Great Sports Legends Dinner lives on, inspiring hope and progress in the fight against spinal cord injuries.
