Commonwealth Charter Academy Senior Darbi Simcox Signs Letter of Intent for Gymnastics at University of Pittsburgh

Commonwealth Charter Academy senior Darbi Simcox has officially signed her letter of intent to attend the University of Pittsburgh for gymnastics, marking a significant milestone in her athletic career. The Simcox family is no stranger to success, with Darbi’s brother Luke also excelling in wrestling at the high school level.

Darbi’s journey to becoming a collegiate gymnast has been filled with dedication and hard work. Training at Dynamats Gymnastics Center in Muncy since the age of 8, she has steadily climbed the ranks of USA Gymnastics under the guidance of her coaches Robert Tagge, Melissa Gyurina, and Todd Brannon. As a level 10 gymnast, just below the elite level of Olympic competitors, Darbi has consistently pushed herself to achieve new heights in the sport.

Reflecting on Darbi’s accomplishments, coach Rob Tagge expressed immense pride in her dedication and hard work. He highlighted her goal of competing for the Division I Pitt Panthers women’s gymnastics team and commended her for her achievements over the years.

Darbi’s senior season has been marked by a shift in perspective, focusing on savoring her final moments at Dynamats rather than fixating on scores. This approach has led to remarkable results, with her all-around scores consistently surpassing the 37.000 mark in recent competitions.

As a three-time Level 10 national qualifier, Darbi has shown significant growth and success in the sport. Her prowess on the balance beam, in particular, has earned her state champion and regional titles, solidifying her standing as a top gymnast in the country.

Coach Todd Brannon praised Darbi’s resilience and determination, noting her ability to overcome challenges and persevere in the face of adversity. He expressed confidence in her future success and highlighted her strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to her goals.

Darbi’s journey serves as a testament to the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving one’s dreams. With her sights set on competing for the University of Pittsburgh, she is poised to make a significant impact on the collegiate gymnastics scene and continue her legacy of success in the sport.
