Rocori School District to Add Girls’ Gymnastics Team in 2024-2025 School Year
The Rocori School district in Cold Spring is gearing up to introduce a new winter sport to its roster. In a recent school board meeting, the board voted to enter into a cooperative sports agreement with Albany to join their girls’ gymnastics team starting in the 2024-2025 school year.
Superintendent Kevin Enerson shared that the estimated activity fee for gymnastics will range from $600 to $800 for the student, with an additional expense of $1,800 to $2,000 per participant for the district. Despite the higher costs associated with gymnastics, Enerson emphasized the importance of supporting students’ interests in various sports, even if they come with a higher price tag.
Currently, seven students have expressed interest in joining the gymnastics team. Families will also be responsible for providing their own transportation to practices and games. The next step in the process is for the Albany school board to approve the agreement. Albany Activities Director Scott Buntje is working on compiling the necessary information for their board’s review.
If Albany gives the green light, the cooperative team will need approval from the school’s conference members and region before becoming official. Holdingford is already part of the cooperative team, and Swanville’s school board has also approved the agreement to join.
The addition of girls’ gymnastics to Rocori’s winter sports lineup is an exciting development for the district, offering students a new opportunity to showcase their talents and athleticism. Stay tuned for more updates on this budding partnership between Rocori and Albany in the world of high school sports.
