Stanford Gymnast Chloe Widner Shines at NCAA Regionals, Leads Team to Nationals
Stanford’s Chloe Widner Shines Bright at NCAA Regional Finals
Stanford’s Chloe Widner stole the show at the NCAA regional finals on Sunday, achieving dual triumphs for herself and her team. Widner, a fifth-year student, scored a perfect 10 in the floor routine, marking her first career 10.000 at the event. Her stellar performance not only secured a spot for the Cardinals at the NCAA championships for the first time since 2016 but also made them the first unseeded team to make nationals since the new format was launched in 2019.
Widner’s remarkable floor routine came at a crucial moment when Stanford needed a score of 9.875 to tie. With her flawless performance, the Cardinals clinched the spot with an impressive 197.575 score. This is just one of many dazzling displays by Widner, who recently scored a perfect 10 on the balance beam, a feat not achieved by a Cardinals gymnast since 2004.
As a result of her outstanding performances, Widner has earned the honor of Pac-10/12 Specialist of the Year 2024, becoming the third Stanford gymnast to receive this award. She also ranks in the top 10 on bars, beam, and floor in the Pac-12 Conference, joining a select group of elite gymnasts.
Widner’s fans have flooded social media with messages of love and support, praising her for her incredible achievements. As the Cardinal gymnastics team prepares to compete in the national championship meet in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 18, all eyes will be on Widner to see if she can once again rise to the occasion and bring more glory to her team.
