LSU Gymnastics Makes History with First NCAA Title Win
LSU Gymnastics Makes History with First NCAA Title
In a thrilling and historic moment for LSU gymnastics, the Tigers secured their first NCAA title in program history on Saturday. Led by standout performances from Konnor McClain and Sierra Ballard, LSU put on a show-stopping performance to claim the championship.
After trailing Utah by a slim margin heading into the final rotation, LSU came out swinging with senior Sierra Ballard setting the tone with a career-high 9.950 on her only routine of the day. McClain then stole the spotlight with an impressive 9.9625 on the beam, leading the Tigers to a program record score of 49.7625 in the event.
But it wasn’t just McClain who shined on the beam – Kiya Johnson, Haleigh Bryant, and Aleah Finnegan all scored 9.950 to help LSU seal the national championship with a total score of 198.2250. The team’s stellar performance on the beam was a true testament to their talent and determination.
Cal, making their first appearance in the finals, put up a strong fight and finished in second place with a score of 197.8500. Utah, who led for most of the competition, had to settle for third place with a score of 197.8000.
Haleigh Bryant, who had already won the individual all-around title earlier in the week, continued her impressive run with a team-leading 9.9375 on the floor. Her performance, along with the rest of the LSU team, was nothing short of exceptional and deserving of the national title.
Overall, it was a night to remember for LSU gymnastics as they etched their names in the history books with a well-deserved NCAA championship win. Congratulations to the Tigers on their incredible achievement!
