Cal Women’s Gymnastics Team Finishes Runner-Up at NCAA Championships

The Cal women’s gymnastics team made history with a stellar performance at the NCAA Championships, finishing in second place behind LSU in Fort Worth, Texas. The Bears, ranked third in the nation, narrowly missed out on the title as LSU edged them out with a score of 198.225-197.8500.

Despite the disappointment of falling short of the championship, the Bears put on a strong showing throughout the competition. Led by standout performances from sophomore eMjae Frazier and junior Mya Lauzon, Cal showcased their talent and determination on the national stage.

Co-head coach Justin Howell expressed pride in the team’s performance and emphasized the valuable experience gained from competing at the highest level. With a strong foundation in place, the Bears are poised to build on this success and continue to challenge for the top spot in future championships.

Frazier’s consistent scoring and Lauzon’s impressive vault performance were key highlights for Cal, as they battled their way through each rotation with determination and skill. The team’s strong balance beam score set the tone for their overall performance, and they continued to impress on the vault and uneven bars.

In the end, LSU’s stellar performance on the beam sealed the victory for the Tigers, as they claimed their first NCAA title in program history. Despite the tough competition, Cal’s resilience and talent were on full display, with Frazier and Lauzon standing out as top performers in the team finals.

As the Bears reflect on their historic season and look ahead to future challenges, they can take pride in their accomplishments and use this experience as motivation to strive for even greater success in the seasons to come.
