JSW Group’s Leap Gymnastics Initiative Revolutionizing Gymnastics in India

In a groundbreaking move, the JSW Group has launched Leap Gymnastics, an initiative aimed at revolutionizing the sport of gymnastics in India. With a vision to introduce gymnastics to a wider audience and develop elite athletes capable of competing on the global stage, Leap Gymnastics is set to make a significant impact on the Indian sports landscape.

Since its inception 18 months ago, Leap Gymnastics has already trained over 1,000 gymnastics enthusiasts in Mumbai. Looking ahead, the initiative plans to expand its reach and train over 10,000 gymnasts across the country in the next five years. This ambitious goal underscores Leap Gymnastics’ commitment to nurturing talent and creating a strong foundation for the sport in India.

Gymnastics is recognized as one of the best foundation sports for physical literacy, making it a crucial component in India’s quest to improve participation levels in sports and physical activities. Leap Gymnastics aims to enhance agility, balance, coordination, motor skills, body posture, muscle and bone health, as well as support mental, emotional, and social development among its participants.

To achieve its objectives, Leap Gymnastics has partnered with international gymnastics expert Kym Dowdell to develop a comprehensive Competitive Framework for Gymnastics in India. This framework includes fundamental, performance, and high-performance pathways, with detailed technical requirements and evaluation processes to elevate the performance levels of Indian gymnasts.

Furthermore, Leap Gymnastics has collaborated with the Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA) to pilot the Competition Framework and Judge Education and Accreditation System at competitions and championships in Maharashtra. The success of this pilot program will pave the way for its adoption across all other states in India.

As part of its partnership with MAGA, Leap Gymnastics will host the first club gymnastics championship – Leap Invitational Gymnastics Championship 2024. This championship will showcase the new competition framework and provide a platform for over 250 gymnasts from Maharashtra to compete and showcase their skills.

With a focus on building India’s capability in gymnastics, developing a robust ecosystem for the sport, increasing accessibility, and introducing a world-class competition framework, Leap Gymnastics is poised to transform the gymnastics landscape in India. As the fastest-growing program at JSW Sports, gymnastics at Leap Gymnastics is set to redefine the sport and create opportunities for aspiring gymnasts across the country.
