Georgia Hires Cecile Canqueteau-Landi to Lead GymDogs Gymnastics Program
The GymDogs at the University of Georgia have made a major coaching change in hopes of reviving their women’s gymnastics program. Georgia has hired Cecile Canqueteau-Landi, a highly respected coach who has worked closely with Olympic champion Simone Biles, to lead the team alongside co-head coach Ryan Roberts.
Canqueteau-Landi, who competed for France in the 1996 Olympics, has been instrumental in Biles’ success over the years. Along with her husband Laurent, she has played a key role in Biles’ three world all-around titles and two medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. With Biles currently training for a shot at the U.S. Olympic team this summer, Canqueteau-Landi’s expertise and experience will be invaluable to the GymDogs.
In a statement, Canqueteau-Landi expressed her excitement about the new role, emphasizing her commitment to putting the well-being of athletes first and helping them reach their full potential. Roberts, who previously worked with Canqueteau-Landi at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy, brings a wealth of experience from his time at Alabama and is eager to work alongside her to bring Georgia back to the top of the SEC.
The GymDogs have a storied history, with 10 NCAA team championships to their name. However, the program has struggled in recent years, failing to qualify for this season’s NCAA championship. With Canqueteau-Landi and Roberts at the helm, Georgia is hoping to turn things around and reclaim their status as one of the top programs in the country.
Fans of Georgia gymnastics will be eagerly anticipating the impact of the new coaching duo as they work to bring success back to the program.
