Alabama Gymnastics Finishes Fourth at NCAA National Semifinals with Season-Low Score
Alabama gymnastics ended its season on a disappointing note with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA National Semifinals. The Crimson Tide, seeded No. 8, scored a season-low 195.4125, falling short of their expectations for the meet. Despite a strong start on the uneven bars, Alabama struggled on the balance beam, with four falls ultimately costing them a shot at the National Championship.
The top-seeded Oklahoma also had an uncharacteristically poor showing, finishing in third place with a season-low score of 196.6625. The No. 5 seed Utah claimed first place with a score of 197.9375, while the No. 4 seed Florida finished in second with 197.875. Utah and Florida will advance to the National Championship against No. 2 seed LSU and No. 3 seed Cal.
Alabama’s score at the National Semifinals was its lowest in over five years, marking a disappointing end to their season. The Tide had a strong start on the uneven bars, with all six gymnasts sticking their landings and creating momentum for the team. However, a disastrous beam rotation with four falls dashed their hopes of advancing to the National Championship.
Junior Lilly Hudson was a bright spot for Alabama, putting together a great all-around performance with consistent scores across all events. Despite the team’s overall struggles, Hudson’s strong showing earned her a fourth-place finish in the all-around competition with a score of 39.575.
As the season comes to a close, Alabama will look to regroup and come back stronger next year. With key gymnasts returning and new talent on the horizon, the Crimson Tide will aim to bounce back from their disappointing finish and make a run for the National Championship in the future.
