FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas gymnastics team, under the leadership of coach Jordyn Wieber, has secured a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Championships after an impressive performance at the NCAA Gymnastics Regional at Walton Arena on April 6.
Wieber, in her fifth year as coach, has meticulously built a strong team through strategic recruiting and consistent training. The Razorbacks scored a remarkable 197.825 at the regional competition, securing a second-place finish behind LSU and out-pointing Kentucky and Minnesota.
The team’s success at the regional meet has earned them a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, where they will compete in a semifinal against top-seeded LSU, California, and Stanford. The top two teams from each semifinal will advance to the finals, which will be televised on ABC.
Coach Wieber expressed her excitement for the team’s accomplishments, noting that this season has been a culmination of hard work and dedication from every member of the team. Senior Jensen Scalzo and junior Maddie Jones also shared their pride in the team’s unity and commitment to excellence.
The Razorbacks have had an exceptional season, setting multiple school records and consistently scoring above 197 in meets. Their performance at the regional final was the second-best score in school history, showcasing their readiness for the national stage.
