Alabama Gymnastics Advances to NCAA Regional Final with First-Place Finish
Alabama gymnastics showcased their talent and determination as they secured their spot in the NCAA Regional Final with a first-place finish in the second round on Thursday. The No. 8 seed Crimson Tide put on a stellar performance, finishing with an impressive score of 197.45.
Penn State also made waves by clinching second place with a score of 196.925, shocking No. 9 seed Michigan in the process. Unfortunately, regional host Michigan and fourth-place Kent State were eliminated from national championship contention.
With this victory, Alabama advances to the Michigan Regional Final where they will face tough competition from the top two teams out of No. 1 seed Oklahoma, No. 16 seed NC State, Ohio State, and Illinois. Fans can catch all the action on ESPN+ at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday.
Alabama’s journey to the Regional Final was not without its challenges. The team started slow on the vault, scoring below their average and failing to secure any scores above 9.9. However, they bounced back on the balance beam with four impressive scores of 9.9 or higher, showcasing their resilience and determination to succeed.
Looking ahead, Alabama will face Penn State once again in the Regional Final at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday, April 6 at 4 p.m. CT.
