Dame Laura Davies Concerned About Tiger Woods’ Ability to Walk 72 Holes at the Masters
Dame Laura Davies has expressed her only concern for Tiger Woods at the Masters – whether he can physically walk through 72 holes of the tournament. Woods, a five-time champion at Augusta, was forced to end his first round early on Thursday due to poor weather conditions, leaving him with five extra holes to play in the final three days if he makes the cut.
Woods, who is making just his second competitive appearance of 2024, has been dealing with a series of injuries and health issues that have limited his playing schedule. Despite withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February due to illness, Woods showed promising signs during his first round at the Masters.
Davies, speaking on Sky Sports, praised Woods’ performance on the course, highlighting his strong short game and ability to save pars. She emphasized that Woods’ biggest challenge will be whether his body can withstand the physical demands of walking the course for four days.
As Woods completed his first round on Friday, Davies noted that his chances at the tournament will depend on his ability to continue walking without issue. With calmer conditions on Friday, Davies believed Woods could take advantage of the improved weather to make a move up the leaderboard.
While other players may not be fazed by the additional holes they have to play, Davies acknowledged that for Woods, the physical toll of walking the course could be a significant factor in his performance. As Woods continues his quest for a sixth green jacket, all eyes will be on his ability to navigate the challenging Augusta National course on foot.
