Scottie Scheffler holds on to Masters lead as Tiger Woods struggles
American golfer Scottie Scheffler maintained his lead at the Masters after a dramatic third round at Augusta National. The world number one shot a one-under 71 to move to seven under par, just one shot ahead of Collin Morikawa.
Scheffler, who is the hottest favorite at Augusta since Tiger Woods in the 2000s, showed his resilience on a challenging day. Despite some early errors, he managed to hold on to the lead with Morikawa hot on his heels.
Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau, who shared the lead overnight, struggled with a 75 and dropped to three under par. Woods, on the other hand, had a tough day on the course, shooting an 82 to fall to 11 over par.
The day also saw some impressive performances from Ludvig Aberg, a Swedish debutant, and Nicolai Hojgaard from Denmark. Aberg carded a 70 to move up the leaderboard, while Hojgaard briefly led before faltering with five successive bogeys.
Despite the challenges, Scheffler’s eagle on the 13th and Morikawa’s steady play set up an exciting final round showdown between the two US Ryder Cup teammates. With the Green Jacket up for grabs, the stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the Masters.
