Impressive Sporting Credentials for New Captains at Ruthin Pwllglas Golf Club
Ruthin Pwllglas Golf Club has welcomed two new captains with impressive sporting backgrounds. Garry Teeson, the new club captain, is a former rugby player who helped Ruthin Rugby Club secure North Wales League and Cup titles. On the other hand, Ann Ellis Davies, the new lady captain, is a former Ladies Club Champion with a strong golfing pedigree.
Garry, a 16-handicapper, only started playing golf casually about eight years ago but quickly developed a passion for the sport. His highlight came last year during the Captain v Vice-Captain’s match when he sank a crucial putt on the 17th hole to secure a victory. Despite running his own groundworks contracting business, Garry is excited to take on the role of captain and is eager to help the club progress.
Ann, a music teacher, has a family history deeply rooted in golf. Her grandfather was a founder member at Morfa Bychan Golf Club, where she first started playing. With a hole-in-one to her credit and a desire to increase female participation in the sport, Ann is looking forward to her role as lady captain.
The captains recently led their teams in the annual Captains v Vice-Captains match, with the Vice-Captains emerging victorious. The club is now gearing up for a series of events to attract new members, including a New2Golf plan and a special Golf and Prosecco session for interested ladies.
With a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, Ruthin Pwllglas Golf Club is set to see an increase in membership under the leadership of Garry and Ann. Their passion for the sport and dedication to growing the club’s community make them a dynamic duo to watch out for in the upcoming season.
