Exciting Team Event at TPC Louisiana: Rory McIlroy Makes Debut at Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Rory McIlroy is set to make his debut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, teaming up with Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry in the PGA Tour team event at TPC Louisiana. The event, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, promises an exciting display of golfing talent as the top 80 players in the PGA Tour standings get to pick their partners for four days of competition.
McIlroy, the highest-ranked player in action, is looking to bounce back from a slow start to the PGA Tour season and a disappointing finish at the RBC Heritage. His decision to partner with Lowry came after a “drunken lunch” conversation following Europe’s victory in Rome last September.
The tournament will also feature other notable pairings, including Ryder Cup champions Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, as well as the Hojgaard brothers and former winner Billy Horschel. The format of the event will see teams compete in fourballs and foursomes rounds, with the top 33 teams and ties progressing to the weekend.
The winning team will receive a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, eligibility for the PGA Championship, and a share of the $8.9 million purse. With FedExCup points and prize money on the line, the competition is sure to be fierce.
Don’t miss the action as the Zurich Classic of New Orleans unfolds live on Sky Sports, with over 30 hours of coverage across the four tournament days. Tune in to see who will emerge victorious in this exciting team event.
