Patrick Fishburn and Zac Blair lead Zurich Classic of New Orleans on 23 under, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry close behind
Patrick Fishburn and Zac Blair are leading the way at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, with Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry hot on their heels just two shots behind. The European duo shot an impressive eight-under 64 in round three to put themselves in contention for the title.
Fishburn and Blair had a stellar day on the course, carding a 12-under 60 to take the lead at 23 under. Their performance was just one shot shy of the tournament-record 59 set by Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele in 2022. Luke List and Henrik Norlander are close behind at 22 under, with McIlroy and Lowry tied for third at 21 under.
McIlroy and Lowry made a strong push on Saturday, finishing with seven birdies in their final seven holes to put themselves in a good position heading into the final round. The format for Sunday’s round will be alternate shot, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
McIlroy, a four-time major champion, is making his debut in the tournament and is determined to make a strong showing. Fishburn and Blair, both looking for their first PGA Tour win, have been playing together since their junior high school days in Utah.
