Jason Day’s Miracle Putt Keeps Byron Nelson Title Defense Alive

Jason Day’s title defense at the Byron Nelson tournament seemed to be in jeopardy until a miraculous 35-foot putt on the 36th hole kept his hopes alive. The Australian, who won the tournament last year, was on the brink of missing the cut as he approached the 18th hole. After hitting his second shot into the water and taking a penalty drop, Day faced a daunting task of saving par from nearly 35 feet away. Despite the odds stacked against him, Day managed to sink the monster putt, much to the amazement of onlookers.

The blunder on the 18th hole was described as “completely inexcusable” by commentators, but Day’s resilience and skill ultimately saved him from elimination. Meanwhile, PGA Tour rookie Jake Knapp surged into the lead with a stellar performance, finishing the second round with a seven-under par 64 to stand at 14-under 128 after 36 holes.

Knapp, who won his first PGA title earlier this year, displayed confidence and composure as he took the lead, emphasizing the importance of making birdies on a course where scores are expected to be low. Despite a bogey on the third hole, Knapp bounced back with a series of birdies, showcasing his ability to read the greens and make crucial putts.

The tournament also saw English 16-year-old amateur Kris Kim making the cut, becoming the youngest player to do so on the PGA Tour since 2015. With the competition heating up and top players like Jordan Spieth missing the cut, the stage is set for an exciting finish at the Byron Nelson tournament. As Day and Knapp continue to battle for the top spot, fans can expect more thrilling moments and unexpected twists in the days to come.
