Scottie Scheffler leads at The Masters; Tiger Woods struggles with a third-round 82
Scottie Scheffler took the lead after a thrilling third round at Augusta National, moving one shot ahead of Collin Morikawa in the race for the Masters title. The world No 1 started strong with two birdies in his first three holes, only to fall behind by two shots after a rough patch on the back nine. However, Scheffler bounced back with an eagle on the 13th and a birdie on the next par-five to regain the lead.
The leaderboard after the third round stands with Scheffler at -7, Morikawa at -6, and Max Homa at -5. Masters debutant Ludvig Åberg is three shots behind Scheffler, while Bryson DeChambeau remains in contention at -3.
Rory McIlroy, on the other hand, is facing an uphill battle as he sits 10 shots back, while Tiger Woods struggled to a third-round 82, his worst in a major as a professional.
Scheffler’s rollercoaster round included a double-bogey on the 10th hole, but he managed to stay on top with some impressive play down the stretch. Morikawa stayed within striking distance with a solid round, while Homa sits two shots back in third place.
As the final day approaches, all eyes will be on Scheffler as he looks to secure his second Masters title in three years.
