Sebastian Vettel considering a return to Formula 1, but not a top priority

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has hinted at a potential comeback to the sport after retiring in 2022. The 36-year-old German, who won 53 races in his career, is considering a return amid the changing landscape of F1.

With Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, Mercedes has a vacant seat for the 2025 season, and Vettel is keeping an eye on the developments. While he admits to thinking about a return, Vettel emphasizes that it is not his top priority at the moment.

Both Hamilton and his Mercedes teammate George Russell have expressed their approval of Vettel potentially rejoining the grid. Hamilton believes Vettel would be an “amazing option” for the team, while Russell appreciates Vettel’s personality and skills.

Vettel’s former team principal at Red Bull, Christian Horner, has also been in contact with the German driver. Despite recent controversies surrounding Horner, Vettel maintains a professional relationship with him, focusing on sporting matters.

As for the future of current world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull, Vettel remains uncertain. Verstappen has dismissed rumors of a potential move to Mercedes, but Vettel acknowledges that anything can happen in F1.

In addition to discussing potential comebacks and team dynamics, Vettel also touched on the importance of F1’s move towards sustainable fuel. He believes it is crucial for the sport to demonstrate alternative options to fossil fuels and is pleased to see progress in this area, even if he feels it is long overdue.

Overall, Vettel’s contemplation of a return to F1 adds an intriguing element to the ongoing driver market discussions and sets the stage for potential changes in the upcoming seasons.
