Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff Slams Toto Wolff’s Public Courting of Max Verstappen
Red Bull’s sporting CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has hit back at Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff for his public pursuit of Max Verstappen, insisting that he is not worried about the Dutchman leaving the team.
Amidst the internal battles at Red Bull, including clashes between team principal Christian Horner and team adviser Helmut Marko, as well as the impending departure of car design legend Adrian Newey, speculation has been rife about Verstappen’s future with the team.
However, Mintzlaff remains confident that Verstappen will stay, citing the unique setup and the best car in Formula 1 that Red Bull has provided for him. He emphasized that Verstappen is a loyal racer who wants to win every race and that Red Bull offers him the best chance to achieve his goal of becoming a world champion.
On the other hand, Wolff has been vocal about his interest in bringing Verstappen to Mercedes to replace Lewis Hamilton, who is set to join Ferrari. Mintzlaff criticized Wolff for his conduct, stating that it lacks respect to constantly talk about personnel from other teams.
Mintzlaff highlighted the reasons why Verstappen would choose to stay at Red Bull, including the trust placed in him by Horner and Marko, as well as his identification with the Red Bull brand. He believes that there are many reasons for Verstappen to stay with Red Bull and none against it.
As the Formula 1 paddock continues to speculate about Verstappen’s future, Mintzlaff’s comments have added fuel to the fire, setting the stage for an intriguing battle between Red Bull and Mercedes both on and off the track.
