Oscar Piastri Caught in a Dilemma: Which IPL Team to Support?

Australian racing driver Oscar Piastri has found himself in a tough spot after expressing his interest in the $10.7 billion Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. The 2023 ODI World Cup-winning contingent of the Australian Men’s Cricket team, which Piastri celebrated in his style, is also part of the tournament. This led to a dilemma for Piastri as he was approached by IPL’s marketing team to choose a team to support.

In a video curated by IPL’s marketing team, Australian cricketers Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Ellis made their cases to convince Piastri to support their respective teams. Stoinis, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants, highlighted the similarities between cricket and racing, while Ellis, who plays for Punjab Kings, emphasized the need for more Aussie support in his team.

After hearing both arguments, Piastri responded with a thoughtful emoji, leaving his decision unknown. It will be interesting to see which team Piastri ultimately decides to support as the 2024 IPL season is already underway.

Away from cricket, Piastri revealed his interest in basketball and expressed his desire to watch an NBA game. He also shared his bucket list of celebrities he would like to meet, with NBA legends Michael Jordan and LeBron James topping the list.

As the racing season progresses, we hope Piastri gets the opportunity to fulfill his dream of watching an NBA game and meeting his favorite basketball stars. With his growing popularity and reach, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Piastri rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in sports across different disciplines.
