Miami Grand Prix Organizers Take Action Against Fundraiser for Former President Donald Trump at Sunday’s Race
The Miami Grand Prix is making headlines once again, but this time it’s not for the thrilling races or star-studded lineup. The race organizers are taking a stand against a fundraiser being held for former President Donald Trump during Sunday’s event.
According to reports, Steven Witkoff, a prominent fundraiser for the GOP nominee, had planned to host a fundraiser for Trump at the race. However, the Miami Grand Prix wasted no time in sending a cease and desist letter to Witkoff, warning him that his suite license would be revoked if he proceeded with the event.
“It has come to our attention that you may be using your Paddock Club Rooftop Suite for a political purpose, namely raising money for a federal election at $250,000 per ticket, which clearly violates the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix suite license agreement,” read the letter obtained by The Washington Post.
Trump, who has been residing in South Florida since leaving the White House in 2021, is reportedly planning to attend the race. Witkoff, a real estate developer and longtime supporter of the former president, had advertised a trip to the race in a suite that would have been an event for Trump.
This controversy comes just days before the highly anticipated race, where Max Verstappen is looking to continue his dominance on the track. The Dutch driver has won four of five races this season and is the clear favorite heading into Sunday’s event.
The Miami Grand Prix, the first of three Formula 1 races set to be held in the United States in 2024, is sure to be a spectacle for racing fans around the world. With the drama surrounding the fundraiser for Trump, all eyes will be on the race this weekend to see how it unfolds.
