Max Verstappen Wins Seventh Consecutive Pole at Miami Grand Prix
Max Verstappen continued his dominance in Formula 1 qualifying by securing his seventh consecutive pole position at the Miami Grand Prix. The three-time reigning F1 champion is inching closer to a third consecutive win at the prestigious event.
Verstappen, who had failed to earn the top starting spot in the first two races at Hard Rock Stadium, managed to clinch pole position this time around. Despite finding it difficult to be consistent with the car and tire feeling over one lap, Verstappen expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It’s not the most enjoyable lap of my career, but we’re on pole and that’s the most important.”
The Red Bull driver’s pole-winning run tied him with Alain Prost for opening the season with six consecutive poles, a feat achieved by Prost in 1993. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, qualified fourth, while Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton secured sixth and seventh positions, respectively.
However, it was a disappointing day for American driver Logan Sargeant, who qualified 17th at his home track. Sargeant, whose job with Williams is in jeopardy, expressed disappointment upon learning he had been eliminated from the first qualifying group.
In addition, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen is under investigation for unsportsmanlike behavior during the sprint race. Despite being penalized three times, Magnussen defended his actions, stating that all penalties were fair.
With Verstappen leading the field to green on Sunday, fans can expect an exciting race as the F1 season unfolds. Stay tuned for more updates on the Miami Grand Prix and the thrilling battles on the track.
