Miami Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel Discusses Impressive Formula One Figures in Florida

Miami Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel has revealed some impressive figures regarding ticket sales for the Formula One race in Miami. In an interview on The Joey Pomp Show podcast, Garfinkel stated that ticket sales for the Miami Dolphins are about 25 per cent higher than for an entire NFL season.

Despite American football being the number one sport in the US, Formula One has managed to turn the race at Dolphins Stadium into a real money-spinner. The Miami Grand Prix, which took place in 2022 after being postponed due to the pandemic, is set to become a regular fixture on the US sports calendar.

The inaugural race brought in a staggering $350 million to the region, and it is expected to reach $450 million in 2023. All tickets for the first race were sold out, with 243,000 fans attending the event over the race weekend.

Garfinkel attributes the success of the event to creating an environment that offers more than just racing. With a focus on good food, music, and great experiences for visitors, the Miami Grand Prix aims to stand out from other racetracks. Garfinkel emphasizes the importance of providing a unique and innovative experience for fans.

While the debut in 2022 did not bring in a profit due to supply chain issues and high costs for infrastructure, Garfinkel is confident that the long-term success of Formula One in Miami is secured. With a focus on positioning the event correctly and having the right people with experience on board, Garfinkel believes that the financial situation will resolve itself over time.

Overall, the success of the Formula One race in Miami highlights the potential for motorsport to thrive in the US market, even surpassing ticket sales for the NFL. With a focus on creating a unique and engaging experience for fans, the Miami Grand Prix is set to become a staple event on the US sports calendar for years to come.
