Prema Racing Announces Entry into American IndyCar Series

Prema Racing, known for developing top Formula 1 stars such as Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, Lance Stroll, and Logan Sargeant, is making a bold move by entering the American IndyCar series for the first time.

Founded in 1983, Prema Racing has established itself as a powerhouse in junior categories in Europe, serving as a stepping stone for drivers aiming to reach Formula 1. The Italy-based team has now set its sights on the USA, announcing its entry into the prestigious NTT IndyCar Series.

Prema Racing will set up a dedicated IndyCar facility in Indiana and plans to field two cars in the series starting next year. Team principal Rene Rosin expressed his excitement about the new venture, calling it a dream come true for the team.

With a track record of nurturing talent that has gone on to succeed in Formula 1, Prema Racing aims to make a mark in the American racing scene. The team has produced F2 champions like Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, and Mick Schumacher, who have all made their mark in the top tier of motorsport.

While Prema Racing has yet to announce its driver lineup for the upcoming IndyCar season, reports suggest they will pair an experienced IndyCar driver with a young talent developed through their program. The team has secured a customer deal with General Motors to use Chevrolet engines for their cars.

Despite the challenges that lie ahead, Rosin is optimistic about the team’s prospects in IndyCar. He acknowledges the difficulty of the project but is determined to make Prema Racing a reference in the series and hopes to eventually expand their efforts beyond two cars.

As Prema Racing prepares to make its mark in the American racing scene, fans and competitors alike will be watching closely to see how the team fares in its inaugural season in the NTT IndyCar Series.
