David Croft: Christian Horner’s Frustration with Lack of Power Compared to Toto Wolff
Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull Racing, has been a key figure in the success of the team since joining in 2005. However, according to Sky Sports pundit David Croft, Horner may be feeling frustrated by the lack of power he has in comparison to his rival, Toto Wolff of Mercedes.
Red Bull Racing has seen tremendous success in Formula 1, winning seven drivers’ world titles and six constructors’ championships. Max Verstappen, one of the team’s star drivers, has claimed three of those drivers’ titles, solidifying Red Bull’s position as a top contender in the sport.
Despite the team’s success, Croft believes that Horner may be envious of Wolff’s position as a co-owner of the Mercedes team, giving him more control and decision-making power. In contrast, Horner is a paid employee of Red Bull Racing, without the same level of autonomy.
Croft highlighted the rivalry between Horner and Wolff, especially during the intense 2021 championship battle between Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. He suggested that Horner’s desire for control and power within the team may be a source of animosity towards Wolff.
While Red Bull Racing continues to achieve success on the track, the dynamics behind the scenes may be causing tension for Horner. As the team looks to maintain their competitive edge in Formula 1, the relationship between Horner and Wolff could play a significant role in shaping the future of both teams.
