Exciting Qualifying Results and Starting Grid for the F1 Chinese Grand Prix
Max Verstappen continued his dominance at the Chinese Grand Prix by securing both the sprint race victory and the pole position for the main event on Sunday. This impressive feat also marked Red Bull’s 100th pole position in Formula 1.
Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, joined him on the front row, making it an all-Red Bull front row for the race. Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin managed to bounce back from a puncture-induced retirement in the sprint race to qualify in third place.
McLaren’s Lando Norris led the charge for his team in fourth place, with his teammate Oscar Piastri lining up in fifth. The Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz followed in sixth and seventh, respectively.
However, controversy surrounded the qualifying results as Aston Martin protested the outcome due to Sainz’s crash during Q2 that brought out a red flag.
On the other hand, it was a disappointing qualifying session for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who was knocked out in Q1 and will start the race from 18th on the grid.
The Chinese Grand Prix is set to take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 3pm local time. Fans in the United Kingdom can catch all the action live on Sky Sports F1, with highlights available on Channel 4.
With the stage set for an exciting race in Shanghai, all eyes will be on Verstappen as he aims to convert his pole position into a race win and extend his lead in the championship standings.
