Barcelona to Host Formula One Roadshow Ahead of Spanish Grand Prix: Excitement and Criticism Surround Event

Barcelona is set to host a thrilling Formula One roadshow ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix in June, aiming to promote the highly anticipated race. The event will see F1 cars zooming along the iconic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard in the heart of the city, passing by architectural marvels like Gaudí’s Casa Batlló. Spectators will have the opportunity to witness the spectacle up close as drivers showcase their skills with donuts on the wide avenue.

Adding to the excitement, a Fan Village will be set up in Plaça Catalunya, featuring a stage, fan zone, and various food and drink stalls. Williams, one of the prominent F1 teams, has confirmed their presence at the Fan Village, with drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant expected to make an appearance.

While many tourists and fans are thrilled about the event, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm. Some locals have expressed concerns about air pollution and noise levels in the city center, with environmental organizations calling for the cancellation of the roadshow.

In a surprising turn of events, Formula One announced earlier this year that the Spanish Grand Prix will be moving to Madrid from 2026 to 2035. The new circuit in Madrid, to be built in collaboration with IFEMA Madrid, will feature a mix of street and non-street sections. However, the Catalan government is still in talks to extend the contract for the Circuit de Catalunya beyond 2026.

As the countdown to the Spanish Grand Prix begins, Barcelona is gearing up to host a spectacular Formula One roadshow that promises to captivate fans and spectators alike. With high-speed thrills and adrenaline-pumping action, the event is set to be a highlight on the F1 calendar.
