Wiltshire artist hopes David Beckham will see his portrait drawing
Del Llewellyn, a talented artist from Chippenham, has turned his passion for drawing sports stars into a successful career. Leaving behind his job in recruitment in 2018, Llewellyn now spends his days creating stunning portrait drawings of some of the biggest names in sports.
From Lionel Messi to Ronaldo Nazário, Llewellyn’s work has caught the attention of top sports memorabilia companies and even the athletes themselves. His intricate and lifelike drawings have earned him commercial deals and the opportunity to meet football legends like Arsène Wenger and Bukayo Saka.
One of Llewellyn’s latest projects is a portrait of none other than David Beckham, based on a photograph taken by Hamish Brown. The drawing, which took three to four weeks to complete, showcases Llewellyn’s incredible talent and attention to detail.
“I asked Hamish Brown if I could draw his photograph and he said yes, and he loves it. I’ve just got to get David Beckham to see it now,” Llewellyn shared.
With a studio set up in the Arsenal club shop and a growing list of high-profile clients, Llewellyn’s dream of making a living from his art has become a reality. His dedication and skill have not gone unnoticed, with business consultant Gordon MacPherson praising his work as “phenomenal” and “amazing.”
As Llewellyn continues to create stunning portraits of sports stars, fans and collectors alike eagerly await the moment when David Beckham sees his impressive drawing. With his talent and determination, there’s no doubt that Llewellyn’s dream of sharing his art with the world will soon become a reality.
