Nominations for PFA Scotland Awards and Young Player of the Year Candidates Announced
Rangers duo Jack Butland and James Tavernier have been nominated for the PFA Scotland Scottish Premiership Player of the Year award, alongside Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland. Butland, who has been a standout performer for Rangers this season, has kept 18 clean sheets in the league and is being considered for an England recall. Tavernier, the Rangers captain, has been instrumental in the team’s success, contributing with 17 league goals and nine assists.
Celtic’s midfielder O’Riley, who was nominated for the Young Player award last season, has impressed with 13 goals and 11 assists in 33 league appearances. Shankland, the current top scorer in the Premiership with 21 goals, has been a key player for Hearts this season.
In the Young Player of the Year category, Ross McCausland, Lyall Cameron, Lennon Miller, and David Watson have been nominated for their outstanding performances. McCausland, who made his breakthrough at Rangers this season, has earned a place in the Northern Ireland squad. Cameron played a crucial role in Dundee’s return to the Scottish Premiership, while Miller has caught the eye with his midfield displays at just 17 years old. On the women’s side, Kirsty MacLean is up for both the Women’s Player and Young Player of the Year awards, with her teammate Rachel Rowe also nominated for the former.
