Wrexham owners plan to increase stadium capacity to 55,000
Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have big plans for the future of the club’s stadium, Stok Racecourse. The Hollywood duo, who took over the club in 2022, have revealed their ambition to increase the stadium’s capacity to as much as 55,000.
Currently, a new 5,500 all-seater stand is in the works at the Racecourse Ground to replace the unused Kop end. However, due to delays in the construction process, a temporary 2,289 stand has been erected instead.
Reynolds and McElhenney are determined to see their vision come to life, with the goal of having all four sides of the stadium fully developed. The duo believes that with the right planning and execution, they could potentially accommodate between 45-55,000 fans at the stadium.
The owners are also keen on making matches more accessible to the local community, with Reynolds expressing his desire for “the whole town to come to the game.” However, they have faced challenges in the construction process, citing bureaucratic hurdles and safety concerns as major obstacles.
Despite the setbacks, Reynolds and McElhenney remain optimistic about the future of Stok Racecourse and are committed to seeing their plans through. As they continue to navigate the complexities of stadium development in the UK, fans can expect to see exciting changes and improvements in the coming years.
